If there’s one sure-fire giveaway of your age, it’s wrinkly elbows. You can do all sorts of things with your face, body and hair, but the elbows seem to be impossible to hide.
When you look at the stars carefully, check out their arms. Even the most glamorous women in the world cannot escape wrinkly elbows. So what you do about them? Get an elbow lift? Hardly, you need that bit of flexibility to move your arm so it’s not a matter of simply removing or cutting at them. There is a website dedicated to models’ secrets and there you can find some remedies that will at least help a lot.
The first golden rule is to exfoliate. The skin on the elbow looks pretty grim and dull, so remove all the dead dry skin that gives it a discoloured look. A scrub, loofah or washcloth in the shower or bath can do the trick.
Lightening the skin around the elbows will go a long way to making them look better. Stick each of your elbows into a half a lemon for around 15 minutes to freshen them up a little. For dark spots you can fade them a little with some hydroquinone or other over the counter treatment for hyperpigmentation.
Remember the elbows when you are fake tanning. This is an area where too much colour will get absorbed so moisturise them before you apply the tan. For the real thing, keep SPF 15 on those elbows when you are out to prevent the sun from darkening and ageing them.
Dryness goes a long way to making your elbows look old, so slap on the vaseline or olive oil and keep them looking a little more supple.
Who would have thought that so much work could go into your elbows? But as they are such a dead giveaway of our age, it’s worth it – now roll up those sleeves and give it some elbow grease!
